Ssa'agrinth -- Zhoenon

A few minutes into the high, a few paces deeper into the Asylum, and Zhoenon was instantly aware of something wrong. The world was warping, but not in a pleasant way. It was as if the shadows were suddenly reaching for her, as if wraiths were sliding out of asylum rooms. Zho let out a little cry and picked up pace.

Mindlessly she moved deeper in, deeper in...always moving. If she stopped they would get her. She could hear them, winding along behind her. Laughing. Occasionally she would hear of shriek of terror. They had caught one of the party guests...should she go back? Should she warn the others? No, got to keep moving... If she stopped they'd catch her too.

Before she realized what had happened she was running, running for her life. Down these stairs, along the corridor. There must be somewhere safe. Must be.

Zhenon couldn't get herself to stop, too heavy was the thought of her silent attacks, too heavy was the terror of being caught. Past walls of peeling paint, barred windows and abandoned rooms. Countless hallways, numerous stairs. The shadows were everywhere. With every turn she fought back an urge to scream out in fright, dodging wraiths and grasping shadows that were only in her mind.

And then, something moved. Something thicker and more solid than the wraiths chasing her. Something with eyes that sucked in the light from her flashlight and reflected it easily. A blood curdling scream escaped Zhoenon and she spun around, darting back the way she came. Along the corridor she'd just been running, wraiths still reaching but something bigger was following her now. Abruptly she turned, flashlight bouncing erratic as she raced into the room. The infirmary, abruptly she was tumbling over the dried husk of what had once been a hospital bead.

*Thud!*

Zhoenon was on the ground, shivering fearfully. Something was in the room. Click, click, click. Something large, making its way toward her. There really was something inside the abandoned asylum! A demon! A beast! It was going to eat her, Zhoenon was never so sure of anything before...

And then a resounding laugh echoed in her mind and the click, click, click, grew fainter. Others were crying out in surprise, probably lured by Zho's own frightened cries. Oh lord, she had lead her friends to doom. Her head was spinning, spinning...but the terror was subsiding... and then the world faded into black, like a bad imitation of a Rolling Stones song.
